Studio Peet
One of my loved regular homes in Paris whenever I stay longer term in the city, Studio Peet is the perfect practical and very authentic Parisian studio rooftop apartment, located on the 6th floor (with lift) of a traditional Haussmann 17thC building, in what was once known as the maids quarter. The ‘Chambre de Bonne’ is the term used to describe the top floor maids quarter and all the units that exist on the rooftops in all Paris historic buildings .This is where the maids lived back in the day as the middle and upper class lived on the lower floors where there are balconies and because historically there were no elevators the Parisians did not wish to climb to the top.
Today the highest floor of any Parisian building has been mostly converted into studio apartments so when you stay in Paris in Peets Studio you are living within that history and story - BUT with the BEST views of Parisian rooftops - something you do not get when you live in the lower ‘fancy’ levels. Personally I prefer light and a sense of openness so I ADORE these rooftop ‘Emily in Paris’ style teeny tiny but oh so perfectly petite abodes.

Upon wake up I open the 2 rooftop windows and let in the early morning sounds and smells, enjoy a coffee overlooking it all while planning my day, I usually pop in and out of the studio many times during the day because its so convenient to walk to local lunch, shops, parks, winebars etc. The 10th arrondissement is SO central - everything is within 20mins on foot whether you are going north to Montmartre (20mins), south to Marais (15mins), Galleries Lafayette (12mins), Opera Garnier (15mins), Saint martins canal (10mins) and of course Gare du Nord is across the road for easy entry and exit from other European Cities. The metro is at your door taking you quickly and easily to all other special nooks of Paris. Its prime location in the city centre!
The studio is approx 22m2 and has a private ensuite bathroom within it which is a luxury for a top floor as most top floor studios share a shower and toilet at the end of the hallway with the other occupants. Towels are provided and the shower is over a large tub.

The studio is equipped with a King sized bed (made up of 2 singles) and a large sofabed for 3rd and 4th guests, a self contained kitchenette bench space with cook top, mini fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, filter coffee maker and all cutlery (Monoprix and Aldi and a bunch of other grocery and speciality food stores are right downstairs including the bustling Marche Saint Quentin - a known little indoor fresh food market). there are multiple fans in the studio for summer month - the studio is NE facing so it does NOT get direct sun and heat in Summer. There is also an antique armour for storing your clothing. WIFI and Heating included
This studio boasts a certain je ne sais quoi, but as a simply presented home it requires YOUR special touch, otherwise it has ample shelving, side tables, dining high bar table and chair, lots of lamps for mood lighting, just add your fleurs from the local market, some candles, books, incense, wine and Paris out your window will do the rest to complete your authentic artists home ambiance…
About your host Peet:
Peet is of Dutch origin. But he has been living in Paris for over 25 years and he has always been in the hospitality industry and has run many traditional chambre d’Hotes (B&Bs) for over 30 years now and he also offers the traditional style of guesthouse experience just 3 floors below this very studio. Located on the 2nd floor of the same Haussmann home you will find Peets own private residence and the 5 Guest bedrooms he offers to travellers, with breakfast service. Peet is completely dedicated the the B&B service and loves to host guests in his home and the studio. He was worked in other industries prior to hospitality such as distribution, but his love of hospitality won him over. Currently Peet is setting up a NEW B&B venture in the South of France too. This is not a hotel, this is the home of an everyday Parisian and Parisians are not inclined to purchase air-cons for their homes (often seen an extravagant unnecessary expense due to Paris having such mild weather year round. If you require air-con for any medical or personal needs please do not book this B&B.
