Alvin’s Petite Paris Arrival Service
The most important moment of your trip isn't the Eiffel Tower. It's the first hour after you arrive - and feeling confident to take on the city!
Because the ultimate travel connection and cultural experience isn’t another workshop or guided food tour (as fun as they may be) - it’s arriving somewhere new and feeling the warmth from someone who’s already there. Waiting for you. Ready to show you how to conquer Paris practically and confidently.
This is how he arrives.
And How your Paris begins.
(Alvin and his famous bike all over Paris, probably with a basket of something sweet for you)!
There's a reason nobody else is offering this in Paris. Showing someone how to use a ticket machine, navigate a metro line, tap on and tap off a bus, understand a menu at a cafe — to most locals it feels too ordinary to bother with (compared to the usual more ‘fun’ cultural experiences they may offer). But Alvin isn't most locals. And understanding the ebbs and flow of the city is part the culture too! And Alvin genuinely LOVES this part. He takes quiet pleasure in watching someone's shoulders drop and confidence grow the moment they realise they can actually do this — that Paris isn't as complicated as it looked from home, and that they're not as alone as they felt stepping off the plane!
Alvin is truly the most genuine sweetest and soulful human you will meet in Paris! If you’re familiar with Petite Paris you will already know this through all the testimonials, photos and reviews from guests who have met him and experienced his arrival service, or stayed in his Petite B&Bs. There is NO end to Alvins gracious generosity - and the friendships he forms with guests are unlike anything I've witnessed in all my years running Petite Paris. Solo women in particular leave his company feeling like they own the city. That's just who he is.
And truly, your empowerment is HIS empowerment! Alvin always tells me, what a GIFT each and every Petite Paris guest is that he gets to meet and assist, not realising HE is the gift to SO many travellers in Paris. He is the warmth you are looking for, to really get your ‘feet off the ground’! Especially those solo travellers in particular who are nervous and unsure - this is SUCH AN IMPORTANT and SPECIAL Service!
And this is the Petite Paris difference — solo traveller empowerment, REAL human connection and an authentic Paris experience, feeling welcomed and a sense of belonging right away, meeting local hosts while staying in their charming family homes. And now this - the Arrival Service you needed in Paris. Done from the most heart-centred place - and there's honestly nothing else and no one else like it in the city.

How it Happens
It’s Simple.
Book your Petite Paris B&B first (you must be staying in a Petite home) and then Book Your Arrival service selecting either the:
3 hours Arrival Service, OR
The Full Day Arrival Service
Either way, Alvin will meet you at the door of your Petite Paris B&B or apartment after you have check-in, or the following first morning if you prefer (You can specify your preference at the time of booking)
Walking you to your nearest metro and bus stops and guiding you through buying tickets and using the system yourself — hands on, not just explained
Giving you an introduction to the Vélib bike system if you wish, including what to look for before you jump on, regular versus electric, safety tips for Paris traffic (a full bike tour is available as a separate add-on service too)
Enjoying a local café near your home where Alvin will walk you through ordering like a local — drinks, food, understanding the menu, and the whole cafe etiquette and rituals.
Recommend the best food and coffee spots in the city - as a total foodie and good coffee lover he will naturally recommend some of his faves too.
He will point out everything you'll actually need — public toilets (toilet situation in Paris), water fountains, the post office, chemists, and anything else specific to your stay
Offer you french cultural insights, language essentials (practice French with you) and etiquette know-how woven throughout your time together, naturally.
Offer his own personal do's and don'ts for staying safe, efficient and relaxed in the city.
Remains a friend and a point of contact for the rest of your stay in the city beyond the service. A genuine friend who will be there if you get stuck at any point.
And…BE YOUR PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPHER whoohoo!!
And More…

The 3-hour Arrival Orientation vs The Full Day - Which One is Right For You?
The difference is really about how deep you want to go.
Both services begin the same way — Alvin arriving on his bike, meeting you at your door, and walking you through the practical essentials of your local neighbourhood. Ie as mentioned, how to navigate the metro and buses, where to tap on and off, the little things that make Paris feel immediately less foreign and more like yours. Both include a café stop — a proper sit-down moment with coffee and a pastry and a gentle introduction to the art of the Parisian café.
The 3-Hour Orientation: is contained, focused and perfect if you simply want to arrive with confidence. You'll cover your immediate neighbourhood, get your bearings, and leave the café feeling like someone who lives there rather than someone trying to figure it out. It has a natural shape to it — grounded, practical, warm.
The Full Day: is something else entirely. There's no set itinerary, no plan, no agenda. Just Alvin and you, moving through Paris organically — catching metros and buses together, wandering toward two or three monuments (or as many as timing unfolds and allows), sharing lunch and optionally dinner along the way. The longer you spend together the more naturally things unfold — questions come up as you walk, discoveries happen in the moment, and what begins as an orientation becomes something closer to a friendship. Alvin has a way of finding both the magical hidden corners and the must-see spots without making either feel like a checklist.
So if you want your bearings, choose the 3-hour. If you want Paris to truly open up on your first day, choose the full day.
Please note — café, lunch and dinner costs are additional and not included in the service fee.
