About Your Hosts

Being interested in different cultures, Janine and Alain have traveled a lot, trekking in the Himalayas, Asia, South America, Africa enjoying cultural holidays on the other side of the world. They are worldly Parisians who love to meet other travellers and host them in their lovely home.

ABOUT the House

Janine and Alain’s unique home is a terrace β€œbeguinage” home among a set of 9 (created of the same architect). Beguinage is the French term for an architectural complex created to house beguines: lay religious women who lived in community without taking vows or retiring from the world).

One of these homes was the home of poet and singer Georges Brassens.

The house has 2 floors (each landing is 50 m2); and as the sole guests you will stay on the 2nd floor and will be the only occupants of that floor which is accessible from the front door entry stairwell. This means you have much privacy to come and go from the second floor as you like without passing through your hosts private section of their home.

On the ground floor or rather garden level (your hosts area) is a large living room, the dining room where you will be served breakfast and the American kitchen (a little less than 14 m2) adjoining. From there you access the garden where breakfast will be served to you when the weather permits. Otherwise breakfast is served in the dining room. More about the breakfast service below.

The Guests 2nd floor suite:

At the entry of the building there is the beautiful oak stairwell with wooden bannisters that goes up to your independent and private second floor dwelling, giving you complete independence. The 28-step staircase and the landing between the floors have been glazed and fitted with non-slip strips to facilitate maintenance and "safety".

Guest bedroom #1:

The first main guest room on the second floor of the home is of 23 m2 and is composed of the bedroom itself (13.30 m2) equipped with a 140X190 cm bed with Burmese silk headboard, bedside lamps, a chest of drawers with 4 drawers for your personal belongings, a low wickerwork chest with extra blankets, a large clothes rack, and a luggage rack.

There is an adjoining 9.45 m2 living room (a slatted curtain separating the bed from the TV area, and is equipped with a bench seat, a coffee table, small cable TV, mini fridge. See photo album for more detail.

In this room you will find: a hot drink set (tea, soluble coffee, herbal tea), a sewing kit (for troubleshooting), clothes brush, shoe care products, a steam iron and an ironing board are available as well as a standing fan.

This room is very bright, with sound insulation (double glazed windows) and its location overlooking the garden is glorious and promises perfectly calm nights rest.

Curtains (lined and blackout) add to the soothing atmosphere. But except to be awakened by the chirping of birds!

Guest bedroom #2:

This 2nd bedroom on the second guests only floor of this home is 15 m2 and it is offered if you are a group of 3 traveling together.

It offers a 120X190 cm bed covered with a duvet, a bedside table and lamps, a large wardrobe (1.92 m) with hanging space a modern armchair, a desk and small TV and a large β€œbaroque” mirror above the corner fireplace.

The window (double glazing and double curtains) overlooks the street (though we assure it is very quiet).

The Bathroom:

The bathroom on the second floor is for the private sole use of the guests. It is fully tiled 4.50 m2, equipped with: a shower (76X76 shower tray) with glass shower screen, a washbasin on the large plan (60x105 cm), a large mirror (105x92 cm), a large wall-mounted towel radiator and toilet.

You will be provided with a hair dryer, toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, towels, toilet paper and bathrobes can be placed for you too.
