Lapin Agile
The oldest and coziest/cutest Cabaret in Paris that will have you slapping your knee and laughing out loud to the highly entertaining French chanteuses (singers), performers and poets.
One of the fun-est nights Iβve had in Paris was right here in this iconic landmark and 18th Century little pink maison, with a very rich history. Since 1850 many writers, poets, artists such as Picasso, sculptors, painters, comedians, musicians and singers all came together here for an evening of fun and laughter.
The building has been immortalised in many famous paintings and was due to be demolished but luckily it was saved from this fate and today is still going strong, Not of the fancy sort, with fancy tables and chairs, viewing balcony or even a stage for that matter. It has very much the old house feel that you see, like sitting in a cave you sit on wooden benches, elbow to elbow, with the performers making their way through the crowd. You get free glass of red wine on arrival and you can drop in and out as often as you want throughout the night, as performers too, glide in and out so magically you almost donβt notice when one artists ends and another begins. One moment you are listening to a heart wrenching tune, the next a hilarious poem or rhyme.
